Flashy Nails

One young lady's attempt to master decent nail art!

Playing Catch Up September 7, 2009

Hi Ladies!  Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, and when I have done it hasn’t been with any pictures of nails but I’m playing catch up today.  Just a quick note for those of you who are waiting for Diamond from me, it still hasn’t arrived but I will let you know when it does!

Ok first things first, today I received a parcel from the wonderful Kris who writes for Polish or Perish and I was gobsmacked! We’d arranged a little swap as Kris wanted to get her hands on some Stargazer, and I was desperate for Orly Cashmere Cardigan and China Glaze Lubu Heels. What I didn’t expect was the SIX extra polishes she included!! Thank you so much Kris!! Here is a little (not very good) picture of the goodies she sent me:

Cosmo Porsche Red | Lubu Heels | Sinful Colors San Francisco | Cashmere Cardigan | Milani Cloud 9 | Jade Suppressed Temptation | Piggy Polish Island Hopping | Massini Sheer Denim

Cosmo "Porsche Red" | Lubu Heels | Sinful Colors "San Francisco" | Cashmere Cardigan | Milani "Cloud 9" | Jade "Suppressed Temptation" | Piggy Polish "Island Hopping" | Massini "Sheer Denim"

Here is the lovely mani I was wearing a few days ago:

Sorry about the lines in that lact picture, that happens sometimes when I take pictures under my desk lamp for some reason.  The pink is Collection 2000 Hot Looks Vixen.  I can’t take credit for the loveliness of this though as I totally ripped it off from the FAB KonADDICT blog, which is an absolutely brilliat resource for all you nail art-ers out there.

And this little beauty which turned out SO CUTE if I do say so myself, was all my own creation.  In case you’re interested, I used Barry M in White, the Red was my “no name” from a make-up kit, Barry M Orange Block, Miss Sporty Yellow, Collection 2000 Hot Looks Ninja, Rimmel Azure, Stargazer 125 and Barry M Vivd Purple.  From that list of colours I bet you can guess what I made……

Right Hand (I dont much like the index or middle fingers but the ring and pinky are AWESOME!)

Awesome Cute-Kitsch!! Love this!

Awesome Cute-Kitsch!! Love this!

How totally awesome is that manicure!!  If it hadn’t taken me over an hour I’d totally be doing it again at some point in the future!!!

Thanks for reading.  I hope you all have a fantastic week!  Mine has got off to a great start!  😀

Collection 2000 Hello Sailor! August 22, 2009

I realised that although you’ve seen this Konaded in an earlier post, I’ve never put up a proper swatch of it, and I really feel I should because this is my absolute favourite EVER polish.  I saw on Glittermillie’s blog that she has recently bought and swatched Boots 17 Peacock, and I reckon that it is Hello Sailor!’s twin…HEREis her post about Peacock, and you can see some pictures of Hello Sailor! below.

Isn’t it lovely?  I totaly love it to pieces!  Speaking of pieces, see the awful mess my fingers are in?!  That’s a combination of, as mentioned in my other post, dry chapped skin as a result of too much hand washing this week, and a very brutal manicure i gave myself after I took the last lot of polish off.  Too trigger happy with the cuticle trimmers 😦  I also have a crack across one of my nails like I did when I reviewed Streamer for the first time, which will probably end up getting trimmed out this time since my nails are all still very short, I’ll just keep them that way till it has been trimmed out.  I don’t know how I do it, I really don’t!

Thanks for reading!  😀

Paisley in blue and green July 10, 2009

After the Blue Glitter, I was going to roadtest the green glitter, to complete my swatching of my birthday haul ( I don’t think the silver glitter really need

s any explanation).  However, the glitter is so dense in the Barry M polishes that it was scracthing the sufrace of my nails when I was removing it.  And, to be honest, I didn’t fancy having the hassle in another two days of trying to remove it.  So, I’ve taken a little step away from the glitters for now, and decided on something else.

I’m sure what first led me to finding Konad was a web search for ‘Paisley nail art’ and if I recall rightly it led me to an image of someone’s nail art they’d done using Konad Plate M60 and then I became obsessed with Konad, and spent a lot of time looking at the fantastic inspirational resource that is Nevertoomuchglitter. Anyway, with some of the money I was kindly given for my birthday, I treated myself to some lovely Konad things from my website:

Psyche Pink Princess Polish

Psyche Pink Princess Polish

Blue Pearl Princess Polish

Blue Pearl Princess Polish

Deep Jungle Princess Polish

Gold Black Princess Polish

(sorry i did try to get them all next to each other but it wouldn’t do it!)
So my new manicure has been paisley and I used both the Deep Jungle and the Blue Pearl, over a base of one of my favourite EVER polishes, Collection 2000 Hello Sailor.  (I was going to buy a second bottle of this the other day so I have a spare for when it runs out but it didn’t look quite the right colour in the shops so I’m undecided as yet whether I should or not.)  I alternated the DJ and the BP on the fingers so I got to use both as I just couldn’t decide!  Sorry the clean up isn’t great on these:
I love this.  It’s Paisley, it’s one of my favourite base coats and it’s nice and subtle and summery!  yay!!

Name change and a mani on my own fingers! :-O June 25, 2009

Okay so I have changed the name of my blog so that it falls in line with my lovely website where I’m selling all things nail art (well just Konad at the moment but Im working on it!), so I am no longer TS Nails, but am instead Flashy Nails!

So I’ve been pretty busy setting up the site, my stock all came yesterday which was VERY exciting,  apart from at the point where I realised that Konad don’t name the polishes on ANY of the packaging, so I had to use a process of elimination to work out which blues and purples were which but I got there eventually.  (I was very thrown by the ‘Light Grey’ Princess Polish though as it looks pretty blue.)

Today I was at a funeral, my nana’s.  It was awful.  Last night when I came to do my nails, I had originally decided to do something pale and subtle and muted, but then I thought that in the last few months when I started doing my nails again, when I used to go see nana or take her out, I always used to show her them and she always had a comment (not always good as she didn’t always like them of course!) so I did them dark but still ‘me’.  So here they are:  I think they look fantastic, and I bumped into two of my friends today who were both wowed!

Sorry the pictures are a bit small, I used the WP upload feature and it’s made my images a bit screwy.  First pic is taken inside lit by some LED lights which are quite bluey, the other two were taken in daylight.  They’re all a touch blurry as I used my mobile phone camera.  I WILL get the hang of taking good pics to put on here, I promise!   Base colour is the VERY beautiful Hello Sailor! by Collection 2000, then it’s Konad Black Special Polish and the daisies off plate M41.  I love it.  It looks sort of like those holographic accessories you used to get a few years back where they were black and then underneath was all different neon colours.  I like it a lot!
